Kitten Clipper Privacy Statement

Effective date: October 22, 2026

Kitten Clipper is a Chrome extension that saves text you select on a web page, along with a link to its source, so you can export it as a JSON file. This statement explains what information the extension handles and what happens to it.

In short: Kitten Clipper keeps your clips on your own computer. It does not send them anywhere, and it has no servers, accounts, analytics, or ads.

What information is handled

Kitten Clipper handles information only when you ask it to clip. You do that by using the right-click menu, the keyboard shortcut, or the Clip Selection button in the popup. At that moment it reads the following from the active tab:

InformationSourcePurpose
Text you have selectedThe pageThe content of your clip
Page titleog:title meta tag, or the page titleLabels the clip
Site nameog:site_name meta tag, or the hostnameLabels the clip
Page address (URL)The canonical link, or the page address, with tracking parameters (utm_*, fbclid, gclid, mc_eid, mc_cid, igshid) removedSource link for the clip
Date and time of the clipYour device clockOrders and dates the clip
A random clip IDGenerated on your deviceTells clips apart in the popup

The extension does not read pages in the background, track your browsing history, or collect anything from a tab you have not clipped from. It does not collect personal information such as your name or email address, and it does not use cookies or persistent identifiers.

How information is used

Clips are used only to do what the extension is for: showing them in the popup list, counting them on the toolbar badge, and writing them to the JSON file when you choose Export JSON.

Where information is stored

Clips are saved in Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. They are never sent over the network. Chrome does not sync this storage to your Google account or other devices. It is protected by your device’s own security, such as your operating system account and any disk encryption you have turned on, and the extension does not add its own encryption on top.

Because clips live in your browser profile, anyone who can use your computer account may be able to see them.

Sharing and transfer

Kitten Clipper does not share, sell, or transfer your data to anyone, including its developers. No humans read your clips. There are no third-party services, advertising, or analytics, and clips are never used for personalized or interest-based ads.

The only way clips leave the extension is when you click Export JSON. That saves a file named kitten-clips-YYYY-MM-DD.json to your Downloads folder. What you do with the file after that is up to you and is covered by that tool’s own policies.

Your choices and control

  • Delete one clip: Use Delete next to it in the popup. Undo Delete is available until you delete another clip or close the popup.
  • Delete all clips: Use Clear All in the popup and confirm.
  • Clear after export: Tick Clear clips after exporting to remove clips as they are exported.
  • Remove everything: Uninstalling the extension removes all of its stored data.

Clips stay until you delete them or uninstall the extension. There is no automatic retention period.

Permissions

Each permission requested in the extension’s manifest is used for a single purpose:

PermissionWhy it is needed
storageSaves your clips locally on your device
contextMenusAdds the right-click Clip selection to Kitten Clipper option
activeTabLets the extension read the tab you are clipping from, only after you invoke it
scriptingReads your selected text and the page details listed above from that tab

Limited Use disclosure

Kitten Clipper’s use of information received from web pages adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the clipping and export features described above. It is not transferred to third parties, not used for advertising, and not read by people except where you choose to share an exported file.

Children’s privacy

Kitten Clipper does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all beyond what you clip onto your own device.

Changes to this statement

If the extension’s handling of data changes, for example by adding any network feature, this statement will be updated before the change is released, and the effective date above will change.
